Luckily I'm not a virgin to tattoos or it may have healed really rough. Also everytime I've had a scheduled appointment they reschedule because they'll take a walk-in right before my appointment. Mike gained this shop back in 2017 and has been turning great art out of here since then. Some of these photos on here are from the old shop and by less experienced artists so to get an idea of what great work Mike really does I advise checking out his portfolio on instagram at @mikebsavagetattoos. He is very open, flexible and patient with your ideas and designs and will only tattoo on you what you desire (provided the location and sizing will work). His line-work is exceptional as is his conversation and actual care about your body and artwork. I've gotten seven plus from him just in one weekend and can't wait to come back for more! Read Less

I've been going to Mike for all my tattoos over the past 2-3 years. He truly cares about his art and client satisfaction. He does phenomenal job on set pieces. He will even work with you to create personal unique pieces. I always appreciate collaborating with him. He is very fair with his pricing and takes his time to ensure quality. Super down to earth and easy to talk to. He takes walk-ins however it's always courteous to call and schedule ahead in case he is busy that day. Very flexible with his schedule. Read Less

As for the shop and staff, the shop was clean and the staff was professional and engaging. Very nice group of people. Luis pierced my belly not too long ago on April 14, 2014. He's super nice and talking to him made me not nervous at all. He made sure it was straight before he pierced it too. After getting it pierced, he explained to me how to take care of it and all. Four weeks later (May 13, 2014), my piercing is still in great shape! I changed the belly ring a few days ago. I got my belly pierced here today. I was scared sh*tless, but the guys who work there were so nice and helpful. They made me feel welcome and safe. I'm underage so I had to bring my mom with me and they made sure that I knew it was going to be okay. I freaked out right before actually getting it pierced but Luis knew what he was doing and started striking up a conversation with me and before I knew it, the pain was over. The price was great too. I NEVER write reviews for anything until I've been there at lease a few times, but after my 10th or so tattoo from JC, I have to give them 5 stars. I'm on my 10th or so tattoo from Addison over there, this guy can freehand the sickest piece in the world! Custom pieces are no problem either. Most of the time, I just show up with no clue what I want and leave with the biggest smile in the world!The other guy Alex is really good as well. I've never gotten a tattoo from him, but I've seen the work he does throughout my many visits. He's very good at what he does.I dont know about this David guy. I've never been tatted by him or seen anything he's done. But if you want to guarantee a sick piece at a good rate- Addison and Alex are your guys!Go here! You won't regret it!! Read Less

Addison listened to exactly what I wanted and even suggested various things- so I felt it was a great creative process. I AM SCARRED FOR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS PLACEHonestly I really do appreciate the people at JC Tattoos and their prices are reasonable..My first tattoo here was ok, the tattoo artist didnt speak english at all and wasnt very communicative but he got the job done in an hour and the tattoo healed great. When I went back for my SECOND tattoo was when I lost all hope and faith in this place. The owner is Louis and he's a cool guy to chat with but his tattoo'ing capabilities were terrible. I requested him to do my personal piece because i thought to myself "Hey, he's the owner, he must be a good artist" I was wrong. It took him 2.5 hours to finish my shoulder piece and the entire session he kept assisting his coworker in his client because she was a squirmer. He would stop for minutes on end and when he returned to doing my piece he would re-re-retrace the parts he already colored. I didnt think anything of it until my tattoo began to heal, well that's not the right word.Since he pressed so hard and kept changing needle mags from 3 to 5 at least 3 times and he kept retracing, he dug SOOOOOO deep that my half my tattoo ended up falling off and scarring into a keloid!Ever since that traumatizing experience and inconsistency, I have gotten a third tattoo but i chose Mom's Tattoo in Haight instead and they were greatJC Tattoo is ok in a sense of price, entertaining people, and ease of getting a appointment... But I would warn to PAY A LITTLE MORE AND GO TO HAIGHTOh and I never confronted Louis about the messed up tattoo because I rather not hear his reasons or excused to why my shoulder is now covered in scars and how i am responsible from the moment I sign the releaseit was HIS responsiblity to warn me he can't tattooa picture of my scarred tattoo is posted on here Read Less

I need a tattoo on my butt. Just Joking. I was just there to check out the place because I was with a bunch of girls who wanted to all great friendship tattoos. Let's start with the location, it's a pretty small shop. Not a lot of tattoos to look at. 3 books to look at, nothing special. The small wall display of art barely show anything worth trying. There were limited seats, and some type of cheap rope separate the guest from the tattoo artist. Not only that, some small girl was running around back and forth. I nearly thought she could have knock into the artist and somebody could get stab. Dangerous, really dangerous. If you don't have a appt you're screw, and if you do, you still have to wait in line. 3 to 5 hours on a tattoo is too long. I know it's got to be ok, but 3 to 5 hours. Come on! Read Less
