It's an anime that really takes the time and effort to create a realistic yet fantastic world and populate it with some of the most endearing characters in all of anime. The plots of each mystery is engrossing and exciting; the characters are not at all static, growing and changing as the anime moves forward. With Gosick being released the season before, however, I had already learned to swallow my pride and initial thoughts and bite the bullet. I enjoyed Gosick. The characters were likeable - except for Kujo - and the cases were coherent, but admittedly involved some ass-pullery from Victorique. Despite that, I still felt satisfied with how the cases went. Jul 22, 2013 Asfaria Recommended Kamisama no Memochou (God's Notebook) is one of the slightly darker "high school mystery" anime I have watched. It may not seem like it at first, but this anime is not as lighthearted as something like Hyouka. Hyouka doesn't have anything like suicide attempts, money stolen from the yakuza, or mind-altering drugs. Story - 7/10 The only real problem with the story of Kamisama no Memochou is it's slow and cliche start. The rest of the ride then consists of ups and downs, loops and turns, and random spins, before ending with a final surge of exhilarating speed. While the mysteries them selfs are not very complicated they are very well done. As for the characters they are mostly well done but some don't get much attention, like Alice's 3 helpers. As one of the main characters Alice also didn't get much back story to how she became a detective. Narumi also felt generic as an Main character, but that's just how i felt about it.
