Michael Morrow's report is up on the BBC Sport website and app.
Key line is "a comfortable win with a clear and accurate attacking identity was what was required from Ireland following consecutive opening defeats and that is what was delivered with an accomplished performance that will provide grounds for optimism before a meeting with Scotland at Murrayfield in two weeks."
'This group is on a journey together'
FT: Italy 10-48 Ireland
Ireland fly-half Johnny Sexton speaking to ITV Sport: "It is always a tough place to come and they are a well coached side. We need to keep our performance level like that against two very good sides. This group is on a journey together and we would have liked to have that performance before."

Well deserved, not the complete performance but a much better one. There was some shape to the attack but the ability of the carriers to get over the gain line - then the game becomes much easier. Andy Farrell will be very, very pleased with the performance.
It was a much more complete team performance, and give supporters confidence that Ireland have a clear idea of what they want to do.

Most of the Irish players have produced good performances, and the scoreline does not really reflect Ireland's dominance. It gives Andy Farrell something to think about over selection.
Beirne named man of the match

Tadhg Beirne is awarded the man of the match bottle. He has looked good in the back row, mobile and menacing with the ball in hand...

Ireland, still a man up thanks to Italy's indiscipline packing out the sin bin, secure a turnover on halfway. Jack Conan off the bench will take the credit in the post-match video debrief. Ireland sling the ball across to the other wing, James Lowe fires up the engine, but is bundled into touch.
The ball came off an Italian knee as he tried to offload. It will be a green throw into the line out, just inside the Italy 22m.

There are times when the camera angle distorts the picture - the officials are nearer the play. When it is not clear and obvious, carry on.

James Lowe
James Lowe is over after taking the ball on a short burst from scrum-half Craig Casey. Was the final pass a little bit forward though?
'Tough few minutes for Italy'

Forwards always get excited by a driving maul try! The secret to a good team is mixing fluidity with a strong set-piece, and Italy just did not have any answer in terms of the physical. This could be a tough few minutes for Italy.

Angus McClymont: Why not invite Japan and Georgia into the 6 Nations then have two leagues of 4 with one up one down relegation/promotion? It may even help Italy develop.
JC, Wokingham: Re: the Italy question? Would reverting to a 5-Nations be the answer?
Anon: I wish people would drop this promotion & relegation idea. A tournament without the old domestic rivalries has no interest for me.
No try
Italy 10-34 Ireland
There was a little spill forward.
No try and Ireland take the chance to introduce a couple of replacements with Rob Herring on at hooker and Craig Casey making his debut at nine.
